Women’s Bible Study: Harvest, A Study of the Fruit of the Spirit

This fall the St. Alban’s Women’s Bible Study will begin a transformative 7-week journey.  Nine different women from our congregation will guide us through the Fruit of the Spirit.  Together we will discover how each attribute comes alive in Old and New Testament scriptures, equipping us to harvest God’s wisdom for our daily lives.  Come to learn, stay to fellowship! There is a sign up in the Narthex.

The St. Alban’s Women Bible Study meets on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 in the Church Fellowship Hall.  The fall meeting dates for 2026 are September 8th and 29th, October 13th and 27th, November 10th and 24th and December 8th.  In 2027 the group will continue to meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month beginning on January 12th to study The Book of Acts.

Adult Education – The Book of Esther

Sunday SEPTEMBER 20 JOIN US at 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall between services as Tim Lyon leads the last of three sessions on The Book of Esther. PLEASE READ the 10 chapters of this book of Esther in one sitting. It will take about 40 minutes.

The Book of Esther
Famed as a book for not mentioning the name of God in its 10 chapters, this story has a beautiful heroine, a romantic thread, threats to good people, a despicable villain, suspense, irony, exotic locales,  and poetic justice. We will discuss these topics as well as an important matter for Christians (and, indeed, all humankind and the world) if Haman’s plot to kill all the Jews succeeded, the promised lineage from Abraham to the Messiah would never have occurred.  Led by Tim Lyon of Saint Alban’s Adult Education team.

Four Mountains Book Study Begins 
Read the Bible Like the Early Church: Seeing Christ on Every Page of the Bible
Led by Craig Huntington and Fred Carlson
This class will be valuable for new Bible readers and experienced Bible readers alike. You do not need the book to participate in the 4 classes, there will be handouts provided for everyone. Those who ordered books have received them. The series will grow your own personal discipleship and help strengthen your evangelism to others.

Adult Education – July and August

While there are no classes on Sunday mornings through July 5th, classes will resume on July 12th with the following sessions:

July 12, 19, 26: Rev. David Grissom presents “Paul’s Preaching on Mars Hill (Acts 17)”.  The Athenians are all around us!  The parallels between the culture of first century Athens and our multi-cultural society today are important to understand.

August 2, 9, 16, 23, 30:  Grant Henley discusses Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Ministry in Germany during WW2.  This is a study of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together (1939),  the written account of his seminarian training experiment for Lutheran pastors who were members of the Confessing Church in Nazi Germany.

Fall Sessions start up September 6th.

Adult Ed Sunday February 8, 2026

Saint Alban’s Adult Ed  will be meeting between services this Sunday February 8, 2026.
Feb 8  The Dwelling Places of God and Sacrifices
Sacrifice? We discussed our own personal sacrifice in the ministry of care-giving the past two weeks. The life in Jesus is truly a sacrificial mode of life (“pick up your Cross and follow me…”) Let’s look at the beginnings of the sacrifice in the Bible.
The dwelling places of God in the Old Testament is a helpful introduction to the concept of the Sacrifice as many of the Old Testament sacrifices involve purging ritual and moral impurities from the temple/tabernacle. This investigation helps us appreciate the dwelling place of God in Christian believers today: in the heart. Led by Tim Lyon.
Bishop Alex Cameron should be with us. Let’s gather in numbers this Sunday (Galatians 6:6 “The hearers of the Word should share all good things with their teachers.”)

February 15, 22, March 1 Sacrifices and Are There Truly Any “Boring” Passages in the Bible?
The class will spend two more Sundays on sacrifices and then conclude with one Sunday on genealogies-you will find these studies fascinating and truly rewarding. Led by Tim Lyon.
Father Grissom will complete his third session on Care Giving later this spring to make up for the cancelled snow Sunday on 1/25.
The Adult Ed team looks forward to the continued growth at Saint Alban’s meeting the Lord’s desire to share the saving Gospel message.

Adult Education Sunday October 19

This Sunday October 19, please join us for the concluding presentation of  the series featuring Ligonier Ministries’ RC Sproull on the basics of the Christian  faith using the template of the Apostles Creed for the sequence of topics. Saint Alban’s has had excellent attendance for this series and are encouraged in our faith sharing mission by this content. This Sunday (10/19) speaks to the Holy Spirit, the Church, and Forgiveness. Led by Howard Hill of the Saint Alban’s Adult Ed team.

St. Alban’s Men’s Group (SAMs)

The Saint Alban’s Men’s Group meets at Dick’s Diner in the back room Friday mornings from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM.  There is also an option to meet via cell phone for the discussion time.  The current topic is a study of Genesis 1 – 11 by noted theologian Warren Wiersbe.  Contact St. Alban’s with any questions or show up for breakfast and Bible study each Friday morning.

St. Alban’s Women Bible Study (SAW) Fall Session – September 23

St. Albans women meet in the Fellowship Hall on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.  Those who can’t attend in person have the option to attend virtually via Zoom.  All of the women of St. Alban’s and their friends who may be seeking an enriching Bible Study are invited to join.  On Tuesday, September 23 the 8-part study, “Titus:  Displaying the Gospel of Grace” by Courtney Doctor and Hunter Beless begins.  This is a line by line study of this epistle.  Contact St. Alban’s for purchase of the workbook, photocopies and discussion questions, and any other questions about the calendar.

Adult Education at St. Alban’s – Fall Series

Join us between services each Sunday for the Fall series of St. Albans Adult Education.  The topics are:

September 14 to October 5 – Basic Training 

The Fall Series of adult education begins Sunday September 14 and runs through October 5 with a review of basic foundational truths directly taken from the Bible sequenced from the Apostles Creed on the following topics:  What is Faith?, God the Father, The Person of Christ, The Work of Christ, The Holy Spirit and the Church, and Forgiveness, Resurrection and the Life Eternal.

October 26 – The Shoe Box Miracles

You will learn the story behind the Christmas Shoebox Gifts that St. Albans sends forth every Christmas.  The testimonials that will be shared are soul-stirring and encouraging, reminding us that every act we bring forward as a Christian to give freely to others echoes the message from the Jesus Christ of the Gospels.  The growth of the program, the massive logistics involved, and the transformational effects experienced by the recipients will be discussed.

November 2 to November 23 – Rebellion

This Bible study series will deal with the topic of rebellion in the world in which we live, including the First Fall in the Garden, the heavenly hosts who rebelled, the anointed faithful of the Old Testament who rebelled, the rebellion that lives within all of us, and the question, does all rebellion lead to sin.

July 27 Adult Ed – Prayer and Evangalism

The new St. Alban’s series on “Strengthening Our Evangelism” led by Jason Ingrassia is meeting this Sunday July 27 at 9:45am.  The theme for July 27 is “Prayer and Evangelism.”
The July 20 session was dedicated to “Listening.” Listening to others is the most important part of evangelism. Scriptures related to listening were read. Two points of view were laid out: How to be a good listener and How not to be a bad listener! We will be discussing how to make the class PowerPoint slides available on the Saint Alban’s website, for our use and our usefulness to others.
These sessions meet in the fellowship hall between services from 9:45-10:35.  Coffee, beverages and breakfast snacks are offered.  All are welcome and encouraged to
attend, from young recently confirmed teens all the way up to our eldest members of the congregation. The group will be studying Scripture texts on evangelism and considering various personal approaches to engage our family, friends, and neighbors with the joy of Jesus. Let’s do our part and help revive our community and church by reaching others for Christ. These sessions will enable you to identify your particular God-given gifts in honing your specific outreach to others-gifts that we frequently never explore!

The sessions will continue to run weekly through late August.
